It’s our pleasure to share some very exciting news with you today! Each year, the Brooks Running Inspiring Coaches Program honors and rewards high school track and cross country coaches who inspire the next generation of runners. These coaches go above and beyond in their community. They are the tide that raises all boats. Throughout the last 7 months, hundreds of nominations from athletes, faculty, parents, and community members recognize their high school coach as someone who has inspired them to be a better version of themselves. In the end, the list was narrowed down to 4 finalists for the Inspiring Track Coach of the Year award.

We would like to congratulate Coach Pelkey for being selected as this year's Brooks Running Inspiring Coaches Award recipient. He has been described as “the heart and soul of our team” and someone who “is the reason our track team still exists and is still growing…he keeps all of the programs going.” In these brief words, it’s very clear that the running community at F.D. Roosevelt High School is a better place because of Coach Pelky. Thank you for being who you are and committing yourself to your team, Coach!
