FDR School Counselors Host College Application Week

NY College Application WeekOctober 25-29 was College Application Week, part of the American College Application Campaign, an effort of the American Council on Education, to increase the number of first-generation and low-income students who pursue post-secondary education.

This was the 8th year FDR participated in this event!  Each year we have seen increased college applications and awareness from seniors!
Here were a few highlights from the week:
  • FDR School Counselors were in the library during the lunch periods assisting seniors with their applications, scholarships, financial aid, essays, and questions.
    • This year, counselors supported 178 students through the college process.  This is a 29% increase from 2019, our last pre-COVID fall year.
  • "Instant Admissions" were held by representatives from two local colleges.

The college application support does not end at the conclusion of College Application Week!  FDR School Counselors continue to support students throughout the fall with the college process.

For more information, or assistance with the college application process, students should see their school counselor.
