Mr. Holt's Classweb

  • Hello Students and Parents. In light of so many changes to our education system here in NY and the USA, I feel it appropriate to share with you an abridged version of my educational philosophy. In this way, you, the parent or student, may have a glimpse at my aims, my beliefs, as we move through the school year together.

I do not aim to merely teach; I aim to inspire. I aim to instill an intrinsic passion for reading and writing and a full understanding of their benefits. I aim to show how inquiry, discussion, critical thinking and curiosity are the most important activities to hone in the modern world. I believe each student brings a unique and important point of view to a learning community. I value each student individually and I promote the importance of the individual to the whole (learning community). I believe in young people and value their opinions and foster their questions. I do not believe that true knowledge is always measurable. I do not believe that all questions can be answered or have one answer.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Holt
