Goals: Koziol (2)
Assists: Noonan, Steigerwald
Saves: Bojko(5)
Coaches Notes: We were way to relaxed coming off the bus and during pre-game. 25 minutes to put our socks and cleates on is WAY TOO LONG! Starting next away game you need to be ready to warm-up within 5 minutes after coming off the bus. Ready means; taped up, socks over shinguards, practice vest on, mouth shut, and head focused on the game ahead of us. This is part of the reason why we struggled today. I think you guys thought this game was going to be a walk in the park. Marlboro out hustled you all over the field and capitalized on one of our MANY mistakes. You're lucky to walk away with a win here. Thank Bojko for his diving save and also thank the post which also saved us.
On a more positive note. You were able to fight out a win even with mistakes, poor play, and frustrated attitudes. The most important thing to take away from this game is that even when the odds are stacked against us we have enough heart and determination to find a way to win. For that I'm proud of you guys.

Boys soccer: Koziol leads Roosevelt to 2-1 victory

Matt Koziol scored twice as the Franklin D. Roosevelt boys soccer team defeated host Marlboro 2-1 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League game on Friday.
Koziol scored the only goal of the first half, in the 20th minute, to give the Presidents a 1-0 lead.
Adam Laubach tied the score for Marlboro (0-3) in the 13th minute of the second half. Koziol answered back for Roosevelt (2-0) one minute later on an assist from Jevi Verjoni.
Marlboro coach Gene Ventriglia was pleased with his team's effort, saying it was a big difference from the team's loss to Rondout Valley early this week.
"I thought it was like night and day," Ventriglia said. "Our kids played well, compact and tight. They had good passing combinations. FDR is a very good team."
Ventriglia said that Roosevelt goalkeeper Mike Bojko made the save of the game. As Laubach hit the post, the ball bounced to the left side and Bojko made a diving save on Haxhi Verjoni.
Bojko made five saves in the game. Marlboro goalkeeper Mark Nowak made seven stops
"We're a very young team and inexperienced," Ventriglia said. "But we're growing. I think Roosevelt is one of the better teams in the league."
