  • Local author, John Paolucci, visited NES on Wednesday, April 10 to read his book, Saving Montana. One of our very own NES students was part of his inspiration for writing the book. Click here to see more pictures.

  • 1st Grade Interviews
    First graders have been learning about the community in which they live and also about their school community. They interviewed some members of the Netherwood Elementary School community and were able to gain first-hand knowledge about their responsibilities. The first graders also had opportunities to ask other burning questions. Click here to see the slide show.

  • Firetalking Writing Project

    Third graders participated in a Firetalking Writing Project inspired by author Patrica Polacco's books which are based on her grandmother's storytelling around a fire. The third graders wrote their own family stories and then shared their stories during a special "Firetalking" morning. Click here to see a slideshow.

  • Elf Catapult STEM Challenge

    The students worked in groups to design catapults and then launched them at various stations - in Santa's sleigh, on a rooftop, over a snowy mountain, etc.! Click here to see a slideshow.

  • Third-grade students enjoyed a residency with the Buglisi Dance Theater. Their residency ended with a school performance on Thursday, November 29. Click here to see more photos.

    On Wednesday, October 10 Greg Tang Jr. spent the day working with all of the students at Netherwood Elementary School. After school he held a workshop with staff and stayed for a Family Math Game Night. An amazing day of math learning was had by all.

  • Project ACES

    On Thursday, May 3 the students at Netherwood celebrated Project ACES. (All Children Exercise Simultaneously). Even though it was hot and humid a fun time of dancing and exercising was had by all. The event ended with a conga line around the building!

    5th grade students from NES visited the Lunchbox in Poughkeepsie as part of their community service. Students helped to prepare and serve meals. Click here for a slideshow.

  • On Tuesday, February 27, Netherwood students enjoyed performances from Kit's Interactive Theater. In the morning the K-2 students learned about the One Room School House while in the afternoon the 3-5 graders learned about Colonial Life. Click here for a slideshow.

    Bindlestick Bill

    On Tuesday February 20 students in kindergarten, first and second grade enjoyed a performance from Bindlestick Bill. Bindlestick Bill told stories, sang songs and played the guitar and harmonica. Click here for more pictures.

  • Movie Night Crowd

    Netherwood students gathered to watch Despicable Me 3 on Friday, January 19. The PTA sponsored the event which included free admission and free popcorn. Click here for more photos.

    The HPCSD Athletics Department and FDR Track Team are again sponsoring the Presidents' Running Club. 

    The goal of the Presidents' Running Club is to improve the general fitness of the Hyde Park Central School District Community by encouraging 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to be more active runners and walkers.

    The Running Club will meet on a weekly basis after school at FDR High School beginning in the Spring.  We will track our miles and work to achieve goals. Club members can earn rewards for reaching their mileage goals!

    The Running Club will begin in late March/early April.
